This July, we're shining a light on the importance of sun safety and encouraging everyone to take simple, effective precautions.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) has a straightforward message: #PracticeSafeSun all year round. Here are three easy steps you can follow to protect your skin while enjoying the outdoors:

1. Seek Shade: Find a spot under a tree, umbrella, or shelter, especially during the peak sun hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
2. Wear Protective Clothing: Opt for long-sleeved shirts, pants, and wide-brimmed hats. Don’t forget your sunglasses to protect your eyes.
3. Apply Sunscreen: Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Reapply every two hours, or more often if you're swimming or sweating.
